Marvel’s New Deadpool and Secret Invasion Series Headline This Week’s Comics

Marvel launches a new Deadpool series and a second Secret Invasion title, leading of week of new releases alongside Guardians of the Galaxy and more.

Deadpool returns and the Earth faces another Secret Invasion during a new week of releases for Marvel Comics.

The Merc with a Mouth is back, starring in a new ongoing series written by Alyssa Wong and illustrated by Martín Cóccolo. For the title’s first arc, Wade Wilson sets out to join an organization comprising the world’s most elite assassins, but the cost to enter involves killing a famous supervillain. The evil-doer that Deadpool is assigned to murder is none other than one of Spider-Man’s greatest threats, Doctor Octopus. While Wade attempts to fulfill his contract though, something strange will be growing inside of him.

Also out is a new Secret Invasion title, this time being a five-issue miniseries by writer Ryan North and artist Francesco Mobili. The series arrives ahead of Marvel Studios’ adaptation of the original comic event for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Secret Invasion show set to debut on Disney+ and starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. The upcoming comic will serve as a sequel to the original 2008 event, and see how well the heroes of Earth have prepared for another Skrull attack during the years since.

Secret Invasion #1 and Deadpool #1 are not the only new issues out on Wednesday though. Readers can also pick up the first issue of the Tiger Division miniseries, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and the Crossgen Tales one-shots.
