Thor’s True Origin and Prehistoric Avengers Headline Marvel’s New Releases

Marvel readers may finally find out who Thor’s true mother is as The Avengers: 1,000,000 B.C. #1 reveals the God of Thunder’s secret origin.

The question of who Thor’s real mother is will be answered in this week’s Marvel Comics releases.

Debuting on Wednesday is the one-shot The Avengers: 1,000,000 B.C. #1 written by Jason Aaron with art by Kev Walker, which focuses on the prehistoric Avengers team introduced in Aaron’s ongoing Avengers series. During the title’s «Enter the Pheonix» arc, the God of Thunder learned that his true birth mother is not actually Gaea as previously thought, but the Phoenix, though he was still able to call upon Gaea’s power to stop the corrupted spirit of Mjolnir in Thor‘s «God of Hammers» arc. The upcoming one-shot promises to reveal the «secret origin of Thor,» which may finally give Marvel readers some answers about his ancestry. The prehistoric Avengers is not the only team-up from this week’s Marvel issues though.

Another one-shot is uniting two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s newest heroes: Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight. Both heroes were recently brought to live-action in Disney+ shows starring actors Iman Vellani and Oscar Isaac, respectively. Ms. Marvel & Moon Knight #1 by writer Jody Houser and artist Ibraim Roberson picks up after Kamala Khan’s recent team-up with Wolverine, a storyline that will end with a team-up between Kamala and Venom (Dylan Brock) in September.

Also out is the finale of the «Banner of War» crossover event between Hulk and Thor in Hulk #8 and the debut of three titles in print — A.X.E.: Death to the Mutants, X-Men Unlimited: X-Men Green and Ultraman: The Mystery of the Ultraseven.
